The Bureau of Investigation, Economic Offences Wing (BIEOW), Assam Police has so far arrested five people related to the scam.

During 2013-14, contractors stole 111 truckloads of rice worth Rs 5 crore in connivance with FCI officials.

Meanwhile, the contract was also granted by showing fake guarantees worth Rs 1.2 crore.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), BIEOW who stated that “fake guarantee confirmation had come from UCO Bank Guwahati, for an amount which was neither sent and nor the bank had any authority to do so.”

She further revealed that both the cases are related as the contractors under RKK Enterprise and the officials had a nexus.

The trucks apparently never reached their destination from Nagaon to Arunachal Pradesh.

CBI investigation in regard to the same was started by Gauhati HC and later transferred to BIEO.
